OPEN works with our members to develop world-leading cultures of anti-oppression, critical reflexivity and personal sustainability. We also understand that groups who are most impacted by oppression need to be at the centre of efforts to push back.

12 out of 16 OPEN organisations are led by women and 8 are led by people of colour. We aim to do even better.

More broadly, our values reflect the pragmatically progressive objectives shared by OPEN member organisations.

Those include fighting for a healthy environment, addressing the climate crisis and limiting corporate power over workers and the state. Supporting a just economy that serves the well-being of all people, rather than an elite few. Advancing civil rights and equal opportunities for all, welcoming refugees, ending racism, sexism, and homophobia and promoting peace.

You can read more about the values at the heart of OPEN in our Executive Director’s remarks on the occasion of our 10th Anniversary.
